Discrete Fourier transform (DFT) is one of the important parts of the course “Digital Signal Processing”. However, the derivation of its definition and main properties involves a large number of abstract mathematical formulas, which makes it hard for students to understand intuitively and deeply; moreover, the course does not emphasize enough on practical applications of its theoretical concepts, principles, and so on, making it difficult to evoke students’ interest. To solve this problem, in this paper, we propose to use digital image spectral analysis to assist the learning of DFT properties, including linearity, circular shift, symmetry, duality and so on, in a more visual way. The teaching experiment results show that the new teaching method can effectively improve students’ learning and understanding, and increase their interest in the course, achieving a good teaching effect. |
